Fear. The STOP Value BlogBig STOP Sign

I’m a little bit addicted to Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert at the moment. I guess it can’t be a bad thing, right? So, I’m inspired and ready. I’m on a mission to make friends with fear whilst staying in the driving seat so that my fear gets to travel with me, so that I see all the STOP signs but I no longer follow them or let them stop me from being who I am and doing what I love on my creative journey, living MY UNIQUE STORY.

Living your story, showing your story, presenting your story. All of these may seem straight forward and you may even say to yourself – Yes, I totally do this. I rock MY STORY.

Well, ok let’s say I believe you.

But why are you still feeling unsure, unfulfilled, close but not quite there?

As humans, we are so very clever at avoiding what we’re scared of. Keeping this in mind, stepping into your real and WHOLE story every day – not your ‘almost there’ story is something that your fear will jump up and down and make a full staged drama about. Think full on Shakespeare!

And so you play it safe. You think that you need to keep your fear quiet and so you take the safe route. But the safe route is never YOUR STORY. You can’t create the life and work you love COMPLETELY if you are dodging fear.

You may create something that looks like it’s ALMOST THERE but isn’t that like opportunity knocking on your door and you saying “maybe” instead of YES?

Fear is quite often a sign that it’s the right way. But it takes some courage to look at that STOP sign, pick it up and take it with you whilst never allowing it to guide you, as you continue on your adventure to create and live YOUR STORY.

It takes some courage to say YES to every part of your unique self, your unique story. It takes some courage to say YES…instead of maybe.

So what is it going to be?

As Will Smith says, “the best things in life are on the other side of terror, on the other side of your maximum fear, are all of the best things in life”.

Are you ready for the ride? Are you ready to LIVE YOUR STORY?
